Book sales office of the Borey Art Centre was opened in 1994 as a natural response to the cultural practice of Borey which had become a place of regular meetings of young and mature authors. The Publishing House had already worked in full scale printing small booklets with poesy and essays every month (they were an immediate review of the newest literature and philosophic readings). Not a week had passed without a presentation of new publications or meetings of poets and critics. The book sales office was organized as a place where all those publications (those by Borey nd by “outsiders”) were to be sold. Now our book sales office is the only place in Petersburg where you can buy not only books and albums on art, literature magazines by “serious” publishing houses and editorial boards, but also publications by “samizdat” prepared by authors for their own account. So, young authors received a chance to become real participants of the literature and artistic process if they worth it.
