"LINES AND POINTS " Painting In the gallery halls | | | | | | | | | | | | Alexander Lechkin was born in Lermontov, Stavropol region in 1973. In 1995 he graduated from Stavropol art college (department of design in architectural and spatial environment). Participated in city and regional art exhibitions in Stavropol Region. His personal exhibitions were held in Kislovodsk (Central exhibition hall), Essentuki (Central city museum). Has been taking part in St. Petersburg exhibitions since 2002. The works by the artist are in the collection of contemporary art museum “XXI century” (Moscow), as well as in private collections in Russia, Israel, Germany, France, USA, etc. "Abstract lines and points are trying to grow accustomed with very tangible characters for the purpose of integration of an objectless graphic element into the already formulated stereotyped image. Everyone is likely to have asked the question what the object and its name are. Didn’t we use to break beautiful toys when we were children to learn what is ticking inside – the irresistible wish which met quite understandable objections from the side of our parents, who used to give irrefragable explanations with cogent examples proving why this shouldn’t be done. In this case we see an obvious defect – and the wish to see what is there inside has remained, with only one difference that the price for such research has risen. And, as it has been expected, there are too many different things inside. Those lines and points are stipulated by the reflection reproducing the forms and images in unexpected proportions; as the result, they seem strange and unfamiliar. These caricatures, though, have their originals, and it is impossible to break through the limits of those originals, just the way it is impossible to plant an inaccurate tree” А. Lechkin |
