Ekaterina Aleksandrovna Florenskaya was born in St Petersburg in 1986. Since 2002 she has participated in more than 20 collective and solo shows. Till 2007 exhibited under the pseudonym of Ekaterina Ilyina.
Since 2003 is a student of the Baltic photo school.
Since 2004 is a student of State St Petersburg University, department of graphic design.
«As everybody knows, the book is a good thing, so here everything is clear. Supermarkets with their detestable sign-boards and web-sites with their foolish banners are not so pleasant. Realizing this, but refusing to put up with existence of such annoying facts of the objective reality, I make a decision to equal everything in value in my pictures, with a secret hope that maybe eventually I will start to “see it like that”. Very unwillingly I had to give up painting generally acknowledged and highly-valued landscape subjects (like boats, churches, etc.) – what’s the use, they are beautiful as it is».
Landscapes:
There are real landscapes of the real cities in the pictures. Good paintings.
Internet:
This series is something like a landscape moved to network. A landscape of this or that web-site. Because it’s hardly a still life, and definitely not a portrait.
