"GARAGE, TOWNSMEN, AND TOWNSWOMEN" Photography In the small hall |  | |  | |  | | | | | | | "The world of things obeys the world of humans. Things live following the rules of the world of humans and exist to make this life more comfortable, cars not being an exception to that. However, at times it seems that they are on their own, as there are cars which have lived for more than 50, 70 years, which have had more than one or two owners… Among cars there are huge ceremonial limos, simple motorcars, created by engineers for common people; isn’t it a metaphor of human life?
And the names? They are townsmen! Moskvitch, Zaporozhets… It’s not a city, it’s a garage...
Of course, the theme of cars in a city is not new. Car plants arrange photo contests, advertising their product. Photo magazines keep up with them too...
But old cars, left by the owners at the side of the road... The owners used to need them badly some time ago, and now the cars live out their remaining days... Vanishing scenery has always been appealing, and in today’s Petersburg it’s twice as appealing. I hope that the photos of cars will raise kind smiles on the visitors’ faces…" Author
