"ALIEN LIGHT"
Objects/photography
In the small hall

There will be photos and objects presented at the exhibition, which show overlap of two spaces, objective and subjective.

I was born in Leningrad in 1965 to a family steeped in tradition.
There were no professional artists in the family, but all women (both maternal and paternal grandmothers, great grandmothers) had excellent drawing skills.
I graduated from an art school.
In 1985 entered Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema named after Tcherkasov.
In 1989 graduated from art and stage faculty of this Institute.
During my studies I was taken with archaeological expeditions, which influenced my interest in history, folklore, and travelling.
Worked at the State Hermitage Museum as a graphic artist.
After graduation met my future husband in one of the expeditions and moved to Moscow.
For a short while worked in several Moscow magazines (Rabotnitsa, Pioneer) as an illustrator.
In 1995 we moved to Germany.
Luckily, I started to teach drawing in a Russian Sunday school. In the mean time started a more active practice in plastic arts and painting. My first show took place at the Museum of Ethnography and History of Nations in Hamburg in 2000. The show evoked a response. Since that moment my creative work has started.
Since 2004 I’ve owned an atelier in a famous Hamburg Artists’ Union “Kopel 66". During 8 years I’ve held more than 80 shows in many German cities (Munich, Hannover, Berlin, Koblenz, Hamburg, etc.).
I continue my pedagogical work and have my own studio. Many of my students have entered higher schools of art in Germany.
I consider an opportunity to travel very important for my life. Mexico, Nepal, Cuba, Vietnam, India, Venezuela, Laos, Cambodia. Trips with a rucksack and a tent have become the main source of inspiration. These trips have brought about my interest in photography, that's why I treat my photos as interesting material for further work in different genres.
Since 2009 I’ve started to exhibit in Russia.

September, 2009 - ''White And Black'' - objects and photos

"Burma (Myanmar) is one of major centers of the Buddhist culture. Buddhism is not just a religion or philosophy, but a lifestyle of the whole nation, of the whole country. The dominating color in Burma is red, the color of a monk’s clothing. And each Burmese is obliged to spend at least one month of his life in a monastery.
Every trip is a dive into a new world. However long a trip can last, it’s impossible to grasp everything from soup to nuts. An eye, a lens are the first point of confrontation with reality, and this first look is very important for me. There are no sophisticated interpretations in it yet, just reflections. I wish to share astonishment and admiration excited by a totally different reality, in which everything is new: space, light, color, air, time flow.
The light reflected on the eye retina, reflected on the photo lens. And though the trip finished a long time ago, and the world you saw seems not real, the photos remain. Which capture a different world, a new point of view, alien light."
